Ireena's Journal 9/8/22

This is the true story

of several strangers

that go on an adventure

and have their lives taped

to find out what happens

when people stop being polite

and start getting real... the real world

Hi, I'm Ireena and I have the great displeasure of recounting the actions of the previous session.

The hag battle is in full swing.  Previously, Brace had started a fire and it is now rapidly spreading throughout the windmill.  The two hags (BELLA and OPHELIA) we were battling disappeared giving the party a brief moment of relief.

However, they reappear on the roof of the windmill and cackle mightily.  They are directing their cackles at their sister (MORGANTHA) who is pushing a dream pie cart towards the windmill.  At the start she is approx. 50 feet away.

Triesken is in spider-climb mode in the windmill attempting to sneak up on hags, but it proves unsuccessful.  He crawls into the attic of the windmill, pokes his head out of a hole in the roof and sees the two hags that reappeared.  Bingdor and Endrid are at the back of the windmill, facing Morgantha who has already begun to send magic missiles.  Radha is tucked away outside of the windmill with myself and the Intern in the Stone Henge Circle.  Dingler, now wearing the Robe of Useful Items as a blanket, is standing idly at the entrance of the windmill.  He will stay in little-kid-scared-mode for the rest of the encounter.

Triesken reminds the party that if we let these 3 hags get too close together, they'll form a coven and be considerably more powerful.  Alright Triesken, game on.  Objective:  Don't let the hags form a coven.  Divide and conquer.  Let's gooooo!

Bingdor, pipe clenched between his teeth, casts a spell that attempts to Banish the hag to another plane of existence.  At first it seems to be working, but Morgantha shakes it off with MAGICAL RESISTANCE … UGH!  He seems to be keeping it cool, but I can tell Bing is starting to sweat hoping his god will give him some guidance.  The party starts to angrily shake their fists at the invisible gods in the sky and claim they were cheated.

Morgantha continues to rush toward the windmill and as she gets closer, the three hags ignite with a purple aura signifying that the coven has been formed.  We can still do this, just have to separate the hags, let's do it!

Morgantha attempts to paralyze Bingdor with a nasty spell, but his wisdom seems to keep him standing and he holds his ground.  Immediately following her spell attempt, the two hags on the roof directly over Bingdor and Endrid send down bolts of lightning dealing mad damage to the old friends.  Endrid manages to tumble out of the way, but no such luck for Bingdor who takes a massive hit.

While all of this is happening, Radha is sending fearsome Eldritch Blasts to the hags on the roof but they're mostly evaded.

Suddenly, we see Trieskan appear in a flash and he shoves Ophelia off of the roof and she plummets to the ground about 50 feet from the windmill.  Reflexively, Endrid throws a couple javelins at the prone hag and misses.

Bingdor takes this moment to pray to his God and his surrounding companions gain some HP.

I feel kinda useless, and the Intern mentions she does as well.  We start poking at Radha and asking what we should do!  There seems to be no plan in place and I just want to--

“Here take this!”

Radha hands her longbow over to me and the Intern.  Sure, we take turns shooting and missing at the hag on the roof.  I am aware (as I hope we all are!)that the hags take half damage from normie attacks, but we still try.

Endrid takes the lead and picks up Ophelia like a baby and makes a run for it.  She has her tongue out in Endrid's face and is trolling her with gross intimidating hag sounds.  Once Endrid gets far enough away, the hags' super coven power dissipates.  Nice!

Before we can celebrate however, Ophelia vanishes from Endrid's grip.

More Elditch Blasts and javelin throws follow.

Ophelia reappears seemingly out of the ether and near to her sisters.  They glow with powerful supercharged hag energy again.  One of the hags casts a spell on Endrid and she turns into a cute little bunny rabbit with a round little tum-tum.  She can suddenly sense that the area is filled with rich parsnip deposits!

Trieskan gets spooked by a spell from a hag and begins to scream in terror and flee.  For a second we fear he is going to jump off the roof of the flaming windmill.

Radha, from her nook in the stone henge circle burns her final spell slot to cast Blight on the beaten down Bella.  She fails her saving throw and severe nightmare energy flows throw her veins and she is KO'd, falling onto her back.  The hags' supercharged energy dissipates once again, the coven is broken!

Bingdor attempts to cure Endrid of her bunnyrabbitism with Remove Curse, but soon after casting realizes that she is not cursed.  It has no effect.  Endrid retreats into my backpack.

One of the hags runs over to her fallen sister and attempts a Medicine check and succeeds in stabilizing her.  The hags are supercharged again!

At this point, the party is in retreat mode.  Radha runs out into the open field away from the windmill and the party.

The rest of the session involves the hags burning spell slots casting Lightning Bolt at each character that is in sight and unprotected. Our unprotected spellcasters Bingdor and Radha fall and begin rolling death saves.  Dingler gets electrocuted by a bolt and curiously does not roll any death saves on his turn.

The intern runs to Dingler and picks him up and starts to flee.  Trieskan, now the only PC standing runs over to Bingdor and Radha and attempts to drag them away from the windmill while trying to avoid more lightning bolts.

That's where we end.  The two standing hags just shooting lightning bolts at the party, the windmill in flames, Endrid is a bunny rabbit, Radha and Bingdor KO'd, Dingler presumably dead.  Just me, the intern, and Trieskan.
