Endrid's Diary 3/24/22
Lady Wachter’s former intern took the microphone after Riktavio
to introduce Viktor Volakovich. Viktor’s speech promised a return to normalcy
in Valaky. He claimed his platform was “magic first”. He asked the crowd for monetary
contribution. The crowd was wildly impressed with his speech.
Izek and his Poindexter companion demanded that we come with him
to see the burgomaster. We wanted to see the burgomaster anyway, so we didn’t
smash the Poindexter priest’s face in.
We followed Izek and Poindexter to the burgomaster’s mansion. We
were introduced to Viktor whose inflection was back to its normal dejected
state. Apparently, he used magical projection to “Elvisize” his voice.
Viktor was still working on his teleportation spell. He asked us
to help him and detailed his failings in research. Brace gave a disgustingly
optimistic speech about defeating Strahd. I agreed, except for his flowery
language.
The party debated for a while and decided at the least to give
Viktor’s tome a once over for useful spells. The tome had a big old “M” on it.
Brace hatched a plan to steal the book from Viktor… it seemed to
be an ancient artifact that could help us and perhaps it belonged to the wizard
we are looking for. We all decided to go along with Brace’s plan due to lack of
better options.
Our plan was to snatch the book and have Ireena carry it under
her cape. Izek and Poindexter busted in and relayed that there was a vampire
attack in progress. Despite the vampire threat the vampire death squad was
commanded to stop us from escaping.
Ireena had the spell book in tow. Poindexter priest filled the
room with a storm and Brace provided us with some holy protection. I bashed
open the window and ran out but then saw a horrible vampire coming towards me.
Bingdor used the Holy Amulet of Ravenkind to Hold Vampires on
the undead in our proximity.
We waged a nasty fight with several vampires. During the fight
Izek seemed to be completely surrounded and perhaps doomed by vampire spawn. We
decided to hightail it away from the fight so Izek’s fate remains uncertain,
but it didn’t look good.
