Radha Felflame 12/29/22

Chasing Waterfalls?

We begin again

Brace tooks a look around the waterfall. It's not a huge space, about 30 ft by 40ft, and wet. Nothing looks out of the ordinary - it just looks like a wide open space.

Brace, while waiting for the other people to join inside the waterfall, makes some echoing hooting sounds. The reverberations seem to indicate that there aren't any hidden side caves.  The walls are curved and smooth.

"Brace, is there anyway to climb up in there?" asks Ireena.

There seems to be a bit of a ledge, but I'll throw some rope down anyway!, yells Brace helpfully. On second thought, maybe just take a running start.

Everyone rolls an athletic check.

Ireena, Radha, and Bingdor all roll an 18! What are the statistical odds of that? (Endrid to confirm) (Endrid edit - 1/8000)

The rest of the party enters the 30 by 40 space. It's pitch black inside. Everyone can tell there is moisture on the surface area, with little drips and squeaks. Brace feels around the side walls, as does Bingdor, trying to see if there is anything out of the ordinary. Brace feels a part of the wall that gives a little bit, doesn't quite push in, but as if there might be a doorway built with precision into the curve of this wall. There's a very faint outline of a door.

Hey guys! Check out this!

What do ya got Brace, bingdor

Seems like it might be a very faint door, brace

Brace gives a little faint push, and it gives a bit. There is a light grinding sound. He can see on the ground some dirt packed in where the door would be. There is dirt in the other part of the area.

A lot of dirt over here, should we dig this out? Brace

That makes sense, agrees bingdor

Brace digs out some dirt, and when he digs out enough it reveals there's not enough space for a human to squeeze through the small area but maybe a small mammal.

I can't fit in there, says Brace. He gives it a push and a shake, with a little give and take, but not satisfying enough.

Radha and Bingdor try to help, but it still doesn't quite open.

Bingdor wonders how far back the stone goes. After getting down to take a look, it seems that he can probably fit his head in to take a look. Bingdor is going to cast stone shape, casting the the stone shape, to turn a part of the stone into a door. Excellent work Bingdor!

The path inside is very narrow, single file only. It goes back quite a way, and is still pitch black. All stone debris ahead.

Brace lights a torch, applauding Bingdor for the excellent work and heads further in. There is a tuft of coarse black hair.

Eww, what's that, wonders Brace.

The order walking through the cave is Brace, Radha, Ireena, Trieskan, Bingdor

Brace rolls a 19 on perception. VVVVVVVVVVVerrrrrry nice. Bingdor also rolls a perception roll. 22! WOWWWWWWWW!

Brace notices some stalagmites and says whoa, we've got company. As bingdor lights his torch he notices another stalagmite scurry off into the darkness. Brace notices the path veers off to the left. Off to the right, there appears to be a little mini cave. Brace decides to check the smaller mini cave to the right. He peeks in and sees a small room with a huge army-green tarp covering a big pile of something, with boulders and rocks in the cave as well. Brace holds up the light to the ceiling, and some stalagmites scurry off into the distance. Brace pulls the tarp off in one go, and it's quite the loud scene with plates and other noisy cutlery. There's a mix of silverware underneath, bars, plates and lots of other things. It's extremely bright off his torch.

Guys check this out!, screams Brace. He tries to sense whether the pile is cursed or magical. Brace decides to Arcana-check the pile and rolls a 9.

Brace tries to convince the group to leave the silver. We're not here for riches! We're here to vanquish Strahd.

Ireena tries to convince the group of the benefits of hedging against inflation with silver bars.

Bingdor recommends grabbing the silver on the way out, which Radha agrees with.

They continue down the path, still single file but the path is widening up a bit. It starts to smell a little stinkier like a dead rodent. There's a rotting muskrat carcass, with a pile of bones and flies swarming around it. It stinks to high heavens. Brace prods at it a little with the warpick, and unravels a human skull. Everyone reacts in their own individual way. Down the path the party hears a howling sound.

Oh boy, maybe we should go back and check for weapons. Even a silver butter knife might be helpful.

Getting back to the silver room, Brace rummages around the silver pile. There seems to be enough silver butter knives for everyone to take one.

There's a scary figure that disappears into the shadows quickly. Brace takes the party lead again. Walking down the path again. As the party works down the path it sounds like the path opens up into a big space. With his torch light, the party is able to see that within this room it's twenty feet wide and fifty feet deep with very high ceilings. We can see that within the room there are three beds made out of hay. There are three naked people sleeping, 2 men and one woman, sleeping on the piles of hay. Sounds like they are all snoring. The party decides to wake the three people up, with weapons at the ready. Trieskan hides in the shadow with crossbow ready.

Brace wakes up the snoring woman. The woman screams at the top of he rlungs when Brace wakes her up.

Initiative

Bingdor 9
Brace 17
Radha 12
Trieskan 5

Braces first action is a war pick, 12 roll for 5 damage. "I said shush!" She's continuing to scream at the top of her lungs. Brace's second turn is to look at the lady and say easy!, and he grapples her on his second act.

Radha asks the guy sleeping right next to her. Radha drops a fear cone on the area, hoping to disengage some of the baddies.

Bingdor casts inflict wounds on the wolf/character closest to him.

The first baddie, the one who was cc'ed runs away out of the room screaming, making his way down the hallway, with his screaming going further and further down the hallway.

The second baddie, near Bingdor, transforms into a werewolf, doubling his size, standing over bingdor.

The third baddie, grappled by Brace, transforms into a werewolf, doubling her size, still grappled by Brace.

Trieskan looses a crossbow bolt at the werewolf, who doesn't even seem to flinch. Trieskan yells out to the party - use the silverware!

Brace tries to jam the silverware into the werewolf's eye and she is trying to get her arms up to pull it out.

Radha blows some eldritch blasts at the werewolf next to Bingdor.

Bingdor launches a guiding bolt at the werewolf, for 17 radiant damage. There's a flash of light which reveals some glyphs up the walls. The werewolf falls to the floor lifeless!

The werewolf is going to try and rip out of the vines that Brace laid out. 1D6 of damage per the rules. The werewolf takes 5 piercing damage!

Trieskan attaches a silver butterknife onto a crowwbow bolt and this bolt is much more satisfying than the earlier shot. 22 damage this time.

Brace opens up a mighty moonbeam, whipping the wereolf with 2d10 damage (8). The werewolf falls lifeless. Brace prays over the werewolf corpse.

Bingdor opens another door in the rock. There's four different points within the perimeter of the circle in the next room that Bingdor opened.

Brace holsters the fork from the werewolf he downed, and Trieskan takes the knife from the arrow he sent in the werewolf. The sounds of wolves are heard from where the party came. Bingdor closes the door to this new room once everyone is in. It is silent, and in the center of the room there are strange inscriptions in the floor.

The party takes a look at the 4 braziers. There is old ash, but it doesn't seem like anyone has been here for a long time. There is a matchbox with a big M on it. As soon as Bingdor takes out the spellbook, the braziers light on fire. The party struggles with a course of action as to what to do next. First, Bingdor walks into the middle with the book, and nothing happens.

Science all teachers crazy? what could this mean?
