Endrid of Clan Dammerung 3/9/23

We find ourselves in a dungeon like chamber with various bones and some prisoner chains on the wall. The bones do not appear human-like.

I investigate a pile of rubble and some armadillo type creature with a long antenna.

I try to talk to and pet it and it takes a nip at me. I try to talk to it and then it attacks the party. Bingdor hits the creature with a bolt. It starts bleeding awful black blood. I pull the crossbow bolt out and try to calm the creature down. It ignores me and runs back into the rubble.

The wizard comes down and derisively but with a friendly tone invites us to dinner.

We debate for a while if we should go to dinner or continue to search for clues. We also thought about how we could get the wizard on our side but came up with no answers.

We head to the dining room which has a grand table. The invisible servants are carrying around all sorts of dishes. We can hear the servants whispering to each other.

The wizard appears to be a little less chipper than he was previously. A servant French-accently encourages us with a “bon appetit”. We all now have dishes with fine silver lids on them. Radha proposes a toast “To Our Hometowns”.

Ireena takes a sip of her wine and loses her bonkers screaming “it’s poison!”. The wizard very dryly tells us that it is simply organic wine. I drain my glass and confirm that this is true.

Under each of our lids sat a human skull. We turned towards the wizard who, now in a sour mood, declares that he believes our true intention is to battle him. He waves his hand and the dining room transforms to the bridge above the very waterfall where we had thought this wizard met his demise.

The wizard is surround by three suits of armor and challenges us loudly. He proclaims that we will meet our demise like Strahd did, by falling down the waterfall.

We began the battle by trying to brainstorm a way to get through this encounter without just engaging the wizard on his own terms. We considered casting fly on me and pretending to die, tossing the wizard off the bridge, or examining one of our various spellbooks.

I yell out to ask his name and he responds “ You fools! You dare to ask the name of MORDENKAINEN!!???”

Trieskan calls out to the wizard and tells him “We have something of yours!” and Radha flashes the book.

The wizard calls us a hot dog and says we better give it back.

Ireena is hesitant to go charging in and instead gives Bingdor some support.

Radha walks the book over to the side of the bridge and threatens to throw it off. “This your last chance MORDENKAINEN, call back your troops or the book is gone forever.

MK calls Radha a hot dog and says she won’t do it. She retreats away. As she’s walking away she gets a blast of heat from the wizard. She gets singed up pretty good.

Bingdor casts spirit guardians around himself to protect the party.

I suggest to Radha that she start ripping pages from the book to get more of a reaction from the wizard.

Trieskan prepares an evasive stance, the party continues to try to non-violently figure out how to snap MK out of his psychosis.

Suit of Armor #1 gets blasted  by spirit guardians and attempts to attack me. Trieskan shoots an arrow at it but it still manages to take two swipes at me both of which I dodge.

The suits smack Bingdor around  and he loses his concentration and the spirit guardians go away.

Radha and Ireena try to pull pages from the book to taunt the wizard but are unsuccessful and instead get blasted by icicles from a page of a blizzard spell.

The wizard is cackling at the party’s misfortune and continues to call us hot dogs.

He blasts Radha with another firebolt.

Bingdor performs a prayer of healing to help poor Radha.

I got an inspiration for taking notes

To be continued…
